Frequently asked questions

Here are answers to the questions our clients ask most often. For a specific situation, the office is happy to help.

How can I benefit from the social housing scheme?

The law offers advantages to buyers who meet certain conditions, in particular not already owning a home. The office checks your eligibility, prepares the deed and liaises with the developer, the bank and the authorities.

I am starting a company: what does the notary do?

The notary explains the possible company forms, helps you choose the one that suits your project, drafts the articles of association and completes the formalities through to registration.

Can I sell a property while the loan is still being repaid?

Yes. The sale price is first used to repay the outstanding loan; the bank then issues a release, which the office records to free the property from the mortgage.

What happens to the deeds signed at the office?

The original, called the minute, is kept by the office indefinitely. You receive a copy and can request more at any time.

When do I pay the costs?

Costs are paid at signing. The amount is set out in a detailed quote that you receive beforehand.

How long does it take to sign a deed?

Once the file is complete, a few weeks are usually enough. The timeline mainly depends on administrative documents and, for a financed purchase, the bank’s approval.

I live abroad: do I need to come to Tetouan?

Not necessarily. You can give a power of attorney to someone close to you, before a notary or at the consulate where you live. The office tells you the wording required.
